This software platform ("the Interface", "we", "us", or "our") is an independently developed graphical user interface (GUI) designed to facilitate access to the Western Cape Electronic Continuity of Care Record (eCCR) system. This Interface is intended solely for the convenience of authenticated eCCR users (such as clinicians and healthcare workers) who are authorised to access eCCR data in the course of their official duties.
Important: By using this Interface, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions. If you do not agree, you must immediately discontinue use.
This Interface:
- Provides a frontend user interface for viewing and interacting with eCCR consultations and patient data;
- Relies entirely on the official eCCR platform for all data fetching, saving, and interaction;
- Does not introduce or modify any backend logic or data structure used by eCCR;
- Is strictly intended for use by authorised eCCR users with valid login credentials issued by the Western Cape Department of Health or its appointed bodies.
This Interface is a convenience layer only and is not a standalone medical records system or platform.
We do not store, log, transmit, or otherwise process any of the following:
- Patient data (including names, folder numbers, diagnoses, medications, or notes);
- Clinical notes, consultations, or visit history;
- Usage logs, audit trails, or user interactions.
All data retrieved through this Interface is fetched directly from the eCCR servers and rendered temporarily on the client side (e.g., in your browser or local device memory). Once the session ends, all session data is cleared.
At no point is patient-identifiable or sensitive medical information stored on, transmitted through, or cached by our servers, storage systems, or databases.
- Users are required to authenticate using their eCCR credentials. These credentials are securely transmitted only to eCCR servers and are never intercepted, read, stored, or used for any other purpose by us.
- eCCR tokens are stored only in memory or browser-local storage, depending on user configuration. No authentication information is saved on our systems.
- All calls are made over secure HTTPS connections directly to eCCR domains.
We implement client-side security best practices but are not responsible for any vulnerabilities or breaches that originate from eCCR or the user's local environment.
This Interface does not:
- Provide clinical decision support;
- Check for drug interactions, allergies, or protocol violations;
- Guarantee completeness, accuracy, or correctness of the data retrieved;
- Validate or verify ICD codes, medication dosages, or notes content.
All information presented is sourced from eCCR and may reflect outdated or incomplete clinical records. It is the user's responsibility to verify all information independently. We accept no liability for harm, injury, clinical errors, or adverse outcomes resulting from the use or misuse of this Interface.
This Interface is developed and maintained by Ashraf Moosa. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or developed in partnership with:
- The Western Cape Government;
- The Department of Health;
- The eCCR system or any of its vendors or partners.
All trademarks and data used belong to their respective owners. Use of the eCCR system is governed by your organisation's agreement with eCCR.
You, the user, are solely responsible for ensuring your use of this Interface complies with:
- The Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA);
- The National Health Act;
- Hospital, provincial, or national IT governance policies;
- Any applicable organisational data security and privacy regulations.
We provide this Interface as-is and take no responsibility for any unlawful or unauthorised access to patient information.
This Interface:
- Is provided free of charge for use as a convenience tool;
- May stop functioning at any time if eCCR changes the way its platform works;
- Does not come with any warranties, guarantees, or technical support;
- May be discontinued or modified without notice.
We cannot guarantee uptime, compatibility, or support for all browsers or devices.
By using this Interface, you:
- Consent to the conditions described herein;
- Accept full responsibility for your use of eCCR data;
- Indemnify us from any claims, liabilities, losses, or damages resulting from your use of the Interface, including data misuse or patient confidentiality breaches.
This Interface includes an optional AI Assistant feature for generating enhanced discharge summaries. Important information about AI use:
- Optional Feature: The AI Assistant is completely optional and users can choose whether or not to use it for generating discharge summaries;
- Data Processing: When using the AI feature, your text notes and/or audio recordings are temporarily processed by third-party AI services to generate summary content;
- No Permanent Storage: Audio recordings and text inputs provided to the AI are not permanently stored by us or the AI service providers;
- User Review Required: All AI-generated content must be reviewed, verified, and approved by the clinician before being saved to the patient record;
- Clinical Accuracy: AI-generated summaries may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies and should never be used without thorough clinical review.
AI Disclaimer
The AI Assistant is a convenience tool only and does not replace clinical judgment. Users are solely responsible for ensuring the accuracy and appropriateness of all content before incorporating it into patient records. By using the AI feature, you acknowledge that you understand its limitations and will exercise appropriate clinical oversight.
